Voters in Padang Serai will cast their ballots on Dec 7 to elect their new representative for the parliamentary seat, the Election Commission (EC) revealed today.
EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh in a statement said the candidate nomination is set for Nov 24, with early voting on Nov 3.
The contesting parties will have 13 days to campaign.
The 15th general election for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat was postponed following the sudden death of one of its candidates, M Karupaiya.
The seat should have witnessed a six-cornered contest between the incumbent, M Karupaiya from Pakatan Harapan (PH) against Hamzah Abd Rahman (Pejuang), Datuk Sivaraj Chandran (BN), Azman Nasrudin (PN), Mohd Bakhri Hashim (Warisan) and independent candidate, Ananda AK.
M Karupaiya, 69, died at Kulim Hospital on Wednesday, believed to be due to a heart attack and other health complications.
