The charge brought against caretaker Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is a lesson for not only political leaders but the whole population on respecting the law, says his PAS colleague Pendang MP Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim.
Awang said the legal process must be respected by everyone.
“He (Muhammad Sanusi) has apologised for his remarks but there were reports lodged and the legal process had already started, which we should respect.
“We’re here to show solidarity with him, especially with the (six) state elections drawing near,” he said.
Meanwhile, PAS calls on all its members and supporters to remain calm and respect the legal process.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said this in a statement after Sanusi was charged under the Sedition Act at the Selayang Sessions Court.
Takiyuddin said the Islamist party has been closely following Sanusi’s case.
“PAS advises all quarters, especially party members and supporters, to remain calm and respect the legal process,” he said.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in a Facebook post, also urged party members and supporters to stay away from any form of provocation.
“The leadership is managing the case as best as we can together with Luham (PAS legal bureau) and other quarters, especially the lawyers who are ready to help Sanusi.
“PAS urges all members to pray to Allah so that he (Sanusi) will be given strength and success in facing this challenge,” he said.
