PH wins both Pulai and Simpang Jeram seats

Pakatan Harapan (PH) retained the Pulai parliamentary seat with 12,668 majority, despite recording the worst voter turnout in the country’s election history.

Suhaizan secured a victory with a smaller majority compared to the significant 33,174 majority achieved by the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was also the former Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs minister, in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Suhaizan, a former Johor State Assembly Speaker, garnered 36,703 votes defeating the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Zulkifli Jaafar (24,035 votes), while independent candidate Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi received 408 votes.

Suhaizan clinched victory with a majority of 12,668 votes.

This win by Suhaizan, who also serves as the Amanah deputy chairman marks a personal milestone for him after six previous unsuccessful attempts in previous elections.

On the 15th General Election in November, Salahuddin secured the Pulai Parliament seat with 64,900 votes, defeating Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed of the Barisan Nasional (BN) who garnered 31,726 votes, and Loh Kah Yong of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) who received 20,677 votes.

PH have also successfully retained the Simpang Jeram state seat.

Nazri Abdul Rahman won 13,844 votes defeating PN’s Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya who gained 10,330 votes while independent candidate, S Jegananthan secured 311 votes.
