Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today appealed to lawmakers from both sides of the divide to cast aside their political differences and support Budget 2021 in the interest of the people.
“I hope all members of Parliament can put aside their political differences to ensure that Budget 2021 is passed in the interests of the people and the country.
“Let’s put the interest of the people above anything else.

“An understanding can be formed between members of Parliament to allow Budget 2021 to be passed with the support of parliamentarians from the government and the opposition,” he said in a special televised address today.
After his proposal to the Agong was rejected, Muhyiddin said today that the upcoming Sarawak state election and the Batu Sapi by-election will still have to take place amid Covid-19 unless emergency is declared.
Citing the Federal Constitution, the prime minister said the elections will still have to go on, but he noted the concerns of the Election Commission (EC) staff who fear of contracting Covid-19 while serving during polling.
“If you ask me there should be no elections now as the Covid-19 cases are spiking, however, we can’t call it off unless we declare a state of emergency,” Muhyiddin said today during a surprise address.
