Azmin Ali took to Twitter today to accuse Lim Kit Siang of politicising Putrajaya’s decision to allow businesses to open under the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
Lim, in a series of statements, had branded Azmin as pathetic for threatening state governments who refused to allow businesses to resume under the CMCO.
“What a pathetic explanation!” exclaimed the DAP veteran in a statement this morning.
Accusing Azmin of leaving a “bad taste in the mouth in federal-state relations”, Lim urged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to intervene and convene a meeting with all state governments.
Yesterday, Azmin clarified that his statement was not a threat but a reminder on the importance of state governments cooperating with Putrajaya.
Prior to this, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had accused his former right-hand man of being arrogant and behaving like United States President Donald Trump.
Taking the matter to Twitter, Azmin slammed the Iskandar Puteri MP for politicising the issue when the country is battling the Covid-19 virus.
“Kit Siang should stop politicising everything, especially at a time when this country needs rebuilding.
“Practise some political distancing as well,” Azmin who is International Trade and Industry Minister (MITI) said.
Azmin had said state governments which do not reopen their economies in accordance with the CCMO risked legal repercussions.
