Defeated in the race to become PKR deputy president, Rafizi Ramli has been appointed as one of PKR’s vice-presidents.

He was an elected vice-president in the previous term.

In a statement on Friday, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also announced the appointment of Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang and Saratok MP Ali Biju as vice-presidents.

Ali will represent the interests of Sabah and Sarawak in the party’s central leadership council (MPP).

PKR has lost its most senior vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar after she resigned from her position earlier this month.

The party’s constitution allows for the appointment of three vice-presidents to work alongside the four elected leaders. Apart from that, the leaders of PKR’s Youth and women’s wings are also considered as vice-presidents.

Besides the appointments of the vice-presidents, the party also made other appointments.

Hang Tuah Jaya MP Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin has been announced as the party’s information chief, while Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has been named as PKR’s supervising secretary.

Saifuddin Nasution Ismail remains as the party’s secretary-general.

Segamat MP Edmund R Santhara Kumar is now the party’s deputy secretary-general, while Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin and S Manivanan have been appointed as PKR’s deputy information chiefs.

Nibong Tebal MP Mansor Othman has been appointed PKR’s strategic director, while Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil is the party’s communications director.

The MPP meeting today also proposed former party vice-president Tian Chua to lead the membership committee, while Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye is to lead PKR’s central election committee (JPP).
