Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing should repeat his apology to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in the Dewan Rakyat, said Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.
Rayer claimed Tiong’s apology was insincere and said that the special envoy to China should have apologised in the House, not via a press statement.
“He said the apology was made outside the House because he did not want to disrupt Parliamentary proceedings.
“I felt the apology was insincere. It has to be made in the House because he criticised the most important civil servant in the country,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday before debates on Budget 2021 commenced.
At the end of Question Time this morning, Rayer said he had filed a written motion seeking an order for Tiong to apologise in the Dewan Rakyat.
Rayer also said it was unwise of the Parliament Speaker to eject him and Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong) last week for protesting against Tiong’s remarks.
“Since he has apologised, it means that the deputy speaker’s decision was ‘not very smart’ (kurang bijak) to eject me,” Rayer said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
