PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has confirmed that its vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin is being investigated by the party’s disciplinary board for publicly attacking the leadership.

He said a complaint against Zuraida was submitted to the party disciplinary board right after the party congress last month.

However, he said he has no information on the progress of the investigation.

“All I know is that the matter is being looked into by PKR disciplinary board chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim.

“I can confirm that there was a complaint lodged against her and I can also confirm that her case is now in the hands of the board chairman.

“The disciplinary board will scrutinise the matter and actions that can be taken include a warning, suspension or even firing,” he said.

Asked when the committee would decide on Zuraida’s fate, he said it would depend on the investigation.

“Due process will be taken in investigating the case. If the need arises, witnesses will be called,” he added.

It was reported yesterday that pressure was building up within PKR to sack Zuraida for insulting party members and publicly disclosing details of an alleged private conversation she had with party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The unhappiness within party members against the Housing and Local Government minister increased after she attacked other leaders during her speech at the “Shared Prosperity Vision” dinner on Dec 8, last year.

Last night, Zuraida, a strong ally of PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, attended the PKR political bureau meeting amid calls for her sacking.

Ahmad, when contacted, said investigations are underway against Zuraida.

“We are looking into the matter,” he said briefly.
