PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man added that Sanusi’s charges did not affect PN’s election campaign.

“Perikatan will keep Sanusi as election director for the six state elections. Much of the preparations have been completed.

“We will maintain our strategies by exposing the failures of the Pakatan Harapan-BN governments in the states they control now – Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang.

“PN has resolved to provide a manifesto that will gather support from voters and we believe what is being faced by Sanusi (in court today) will not dent the campaign machinery,” he told The Star.

Sanusi claimed trial this morning to two charges over his July 11 speech at a PN rally in Selayang, Selangor.

Both charges accused him of uttering words that had the tendency to incite disloyalty against a ruler.

If found guilty, Sanusi can be jailed for up to three years, fined up to RM5,000, or both for each offence.

Meanwhile, Sanusi hinted today that he would continue to contest in the Kedah state elections next month despite the charges against him.

Both cases are set for pre-trial proceedings on Oct 4.

“Alhamdulillah, (the court set the date in) October, so I can contest in the state polls first,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
