Segamat police chief Superintendent Raub Selamat said investigations revealed that the driver of the family’s Perodua Viva lost control of the car, sending it to the opposite lane. The car then collided with the bus, which was headed from Johor Baru to Segamat.

Meanwhile, the sole survivor, the couple’s three-year-old daughter Nur Ghaziyah Athirah, has been transferred from the Segamat Hospital to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru.

Speaking to reporters at the funeral of the five family members killed in the crash, the father of Abu Dujanah said Nur Ghaziyah was in critical condition.

“We will go to see her after the funeral. According to the doctor, it all depends on her will to live.

“The doctor said she has brain haemorrhage, fractured her leg and hip, has internal bleeding and requires surgery,” Dzulkrinain Yusoh said of his granddaughter.

He revealed that his son had gone to pick up his wife in Muadzam Shah where she had spent her confinement after giving birth to their youngest daughter, Nur Alia.

Dzulkrinain, 55, said Abu Dujanah worked at the family restaurant in Kluang while Zinnirah owned a shop selling clothes, also in Kluang.

He also said that he has discussed with his in-laws and the families have come to an agreement that he and his family will continue to take care of Nur Ghaziyah.

“Let us all pray that my granddaughter would undergo a successful surgery and that she will recover from her injuries,” he said.
