Police yesterday arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion that he pushed his 20-year-old girlfriend from their 19th-floor condominium unit last Saturday.

The woman was discovered by a security guard sprawled in the car park of the condominium at Batu 41/2 Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, on Apr 21.

A paramedic team which rushed to the scene pronounced her dead shortly after the incident at about 6am.

The 30-year-old man was detained after a police investigation found a possible criminal element in the case.

Apparently, the case was initially classified as “sudden death” (SDR), as witnesses had told police they saw the victim climbing the wall of a corridor, before jumping from the building, the New Straits Times reported.

“Witnesses said the victim had been quarrelling with her boyfriend at 5.45am and that she was asked to leave the (condominium unit). The couple had moved to the unit several months ago and were said to have always been arguing.

“(On the day of the incident, the woman) was seen climbing the corridor wall and clinging to it, before falling to the car park,” a source was quoted telling the daily.

However, the source added that an investigation revealed that the woman may have been pushed from the building.

“Hence, her boyfriend was detained to assist the investigation,” the source was quoted saying.

According to Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner R Munusamy, the boyfriend of the victim has been remanded until tomorrow (April 28) to facilitate an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
