Still-defiant Shahidan insists that nine reps do not support Azlan Man as MB.
Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim today blasted a report by a local news portal that the nine Barisan Nasional (BN) state representatives will accept the appointment of Datuk Seri Azlan Man as Perlis Menteri Besar.
The Perlis BN chairman stressed that all nine state reps, as long as they contested in GE14 under the BN ticket, will not support Azlan, the New Straits Times reported.
“Will not support! They (nine assemblymen) contested in their constituencies under the Perlis BN ticket.
“I am the state BN chairman, so it is simple, and there is no need to question this,” he reportedly said.
One of the nine state representatives who declined to be named, also denied the report by the local news portal that the BN assemblymen will be making a U-turn.
“We are still having discussions internally and we have not informed of any decision made about Azlan’s appointment to anyone,” the state representative was quoted saying.
Earlier, a news portal reported that the nine assemblymen who had boycotted Azlan’s swearing-in ceremony are expected to accept his appointment, sometime in the near future.
The news portal said a meeting was held and the representatives agreed to support Azlan’s second term as the state’s Menteri Besar.
According to The Star, Shahidan said he was not aware of the support given to Azlan as being reported and as far as he knows, the majority of the state assemblymen do not back Azlan.
“It is not true what is being reported, and we are in the midst of a legal process,” he was quoted as saying, adding that his lawyers would be speaking soon.
