A commotion all because a man took a picture of a woman in a cafe in Sibu, Sarawak.
Six people, including a woman, were arrested for possessing offensive weapons in a public place during a fight.
Sibu OCPD, asst comm Zailanni Amit said on Friday that the case came to light when senior investigating officer ASP Che Intan Subri saw a posting entitled ‘Gang Fight in Sibu’ on ‘infor sibu’ Facebook page on Thursday evening, The Star reported.
A video clip of the fracas between two groups of people was also uploaded to the Facebook page.
The discovery of the incident led to the arrest of the six suspects, aged between 20 to 30, at Jalan Keranji and Jalan Kampung Nyabor.
It was reported that the two groups were at the cafe in Jalan Wong King Hoe at 1.30pm on Thursday when one of the suspects, a 27-year-old man, secretly took a picture of a 30-year old woman who was with two companions at another table.
“Seeing this, the woman dashed over to the other table and grabbed the handphone from the man. She also slapped him on the face,” Zailanni was quoted as saying.
The man retaliated by elbowing the woman in the face.
A free-for-all almost erupted between the two groups during which sticks and samurai sword were wielded.
Police said they were looking for another suspect who was still at large.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with the use of weapons.
