Singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and her husband Khalid Mohamad Jiwa were each fined RM10,000 for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) when organising their second child’s tahnik ceremony last month, police said.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Zulkifli Mohamad and three religious speakers present at the event were also fined RM2,000 each, said Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed.
The three speakers were Azhar Idrus, Don Daniyal and Iqbal Zain Al Jauhari.
“The compound order was issued by the deputy public prosecutor who found the couple had failed to comply with the physical distancing while taking pictures and so on,” he said in a press conference today.
Arjunaidi added that Khalid’s three children were fined RM2,000 each.
Two other celebrities, Norman Hakim and Abby Abadi, were also fined but the amount was not disclosed.
Siti held the tahnik ceremony for her child at their residence in Ampang, Selangor on April 26.
The event became controversial after social media users questioned the possible violation of SOP in some of the photos uploaded by Siti on her social media.
They questioned the need for Zulkifli and Azhar to be at the event in spite of the tight SOP and on the presence of Zulkifli and Azhar who they claimed were not residing in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur.
