A man was stabbed to death by his son following an argument at their home in Kg Simpang Pertang, Jelebu, today.
Jelebu district police chief DSP Maslan Udin said the police were alerted to the incident after neighbours saw Tan Yin Fah, 59, lying in a pool of blood at the house door about 9.30am.
He said based on preliminary investigations, a quarrel broke out after Tan scolded his unemployed son, 35, for spending too much time on the phone.
During the quarrel, Tan was said to have hit the son on his back with a plastic chair. The son retaliated by stabbing the father with a knife.
He said the suspect then fled on a motorcycle but was arrested by police about 20 minutes later.
Tan died at the scene from stab wounds to his front and back.
Only Tan’s 85-year-old mother was at home when the incident happened, while his wife was out.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Meanwhile, a neighbour said the suspect previously worked outside the state but returned to live with his father in March. The neighbour also claimed that the two were always arguing.
