Khalid succeeds Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, whose two-year contract as IGP ends this Sunday.

“Based on his extensive experience in police work, Khalid has the competency and leadership qualities to lead the Royal Malaysia Police. On behalf of the Madani government, I would like to express our utmost gratitude to Razarudin for all his contributions during his term as the IGP, which began on 23 June 2023,” said Saifuddin.

A duty handover ceremony was held at 3pm today at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre in Jalan Semarak to mark the transition of leadership.

According to his official profile, Khalid holds a Master’s Degree in Comparative Laws from the International Islamic University Malaysia.

Born on 8 April 1965, he began his career in the police force in 1987 as an officer in the intelligence division. He steadily rose through the ranks and was appointed as Special Branch director on 10 April 2023.

Khalid reached the mandatory retirement age on 8 April this year, but his service was extended on a contract basis.
