Controversial blogger Papagomo today made a police report against Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman for making a false report on the incident which involved the duo on the nomination day of the Semenyih by-election.
The Umno Youth executive council member, whose real name is Wan Azri Wan Deris, said Syed Saddiq was not telling the truth.
“I see this as a political tool to gain publicity.
“There was someone else being rough to him. Instead, he accused me of being violent and strangling his neck,” he said.
However, Papagomo did admit his action in approaching Syed Saddiq on Feb 16 was “stupid”, explaining he only wanted to “save” the minister who was passing by a Barisan Nasional supporters’ area.
Papagomo expressed his disappointment with Syed Saddiq because they had been friends for a long time. He said this after making a police report at the Kajang district police headquarters.
Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the incident involving the two politicians was a mere misunderstanding and not an assault.
Papagomo today denied there was “pushing” involved in the incident.
He was earlier remanded for three days to assist in police investigations after Syed Saddiq made a report against him.
He was released on Wednesday (Feb 20) on police bail.
Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq is standing by the police report he lodged on being assaulted by Papagomo.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief and Muar MP brushed off the blogger’s claims that the report lodged was false.
“We are emboldened by the truth. and I believe that I lodged a legitimate report over the incident and the police know that,” Syed Saddiq said.
“I have faith in the police to come up with a final report and take action,” he said.
