Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing was a no-show at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today.
The media had been waiting for the minister and the tourist he “rescued” from the KLIA last week since 8am but did not spot either of them.
They were supposed to be questioned by the MACC today over an incident at the airport, when the tourist – a female China national – was denied entry.
After the woman – who worked for a Chinese government-owned TV station – was denied entry, her boss called the Malaysian consulate in Guangzhou, which then contacted Tiong.
Tiong claimed there was corruption involved in the incident, prompting a probe by the MACC.
The Immigration Department has lodged a police report over the matter, denying corruption.
According to Kosmo, the police report also stated that the woman was denied entry as she did not have a return ticket and did not clearly state where she would be staying while in Malaysia.
