Two Charged over Viral Caning Following Domestic Dispute

Two men were charged at the magistrate’s court in Klang on Thursday over the beating of a man with a rattan stick following a domestic dispute incident on Sept 6, footage of which went viral on social media.

The duo were slapped with two charges each and both claimed trial to all charges.

Ching Chee Siong, 39, was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing voluntarily hurt by dangerous weapons. He had used a rattan stick to hit 52-year-old odd-job labourer, Khor Meng Heong.

He faces up to ten years’ jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments, if convicted.

Ching was also charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass into Khor’s home, which carries a jail term of up to six months, a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both.

Bail was set at RM5,500 and mention fixed for October.

In another court, See Kean Soon, 38, was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code for abetting Ching. He recorded the entire beating incident,

If found guilty, he can be sentenced under Section 324 of the same code with a jail term of up to ten years, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments upon conviction.

See was also charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass into Khor’s home and faces a jail term of up to six months, a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both.

Bail was set at RM6,000 and mention fixed for Oct 13.

Both men had turned themselves in earlier this week.
