A Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) lecturer has apologised to former finance minister Lim Guan Eng today for a series of libellous remarks he made against the Bagan MP.
Abdul Muein Abadi had uploaded an article on Facebook in which he had accused DAP of having a political relationship with the defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Israel.
The article was titled “Hubungan sulit DAP, Pengganas LTTE dan Zionist Israel” or “The secret ties between DAP, LTTE terrorists and Zionist Israel”.
“I, Abdul Muein Abadi, a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, have apologised to Lim Guan Eng personally and in his capacity as Bagan MP, Air Puteh assemblyman and DAP for the libel in my article entitled ‘DAP’s secret relationship with LTTE and Zionist Israel’.
“I take full responsibility for my action and I regret having published the article that had caused hurt to Lim Guan Eng and members of DAP.
“With sincerity and without being pressured, I withdraw the article I wrote, whereby I admit that it was based on untrue and unfounded claims.
“I will also be paying Lim RM3,500 as legal cost,” he said.
