A 97-second clip showing a female police volunteer reserve (PVR) officer slapping two men believed to be Indian nationals has been making its rounds on social media since Monday.

Reportedly, the assault followed an argument over a personal matter at a restaurant in Mantin at around 3pm on March 4.

The woman, who was in plain-clothes, can be heard in the video telling the men in Punjabi that she had warned them not to create trouble. She is seen attacking a man with a turban who has one of his hands cuffed.

The PVR officer, who is attached to the Seremban district police headquarters, then turns to another youth and slaps him several times as shocked patrons at the restaurant look on. She then continues to hit the handcuffed man.

Seremban OCPD ACP Thiew Hock Poh has confirmed that the woman is a PVR officer based in Seremban. However, he said the incident happened in Mantin, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Nilai police district.

It is learnt that the PVR officer has lodged a report and investigations are ongoing.

In the report, which has also gone viral, the woman alleged that she slapped one of the men for uttering profanities.

According to the woman, she went to the eatery after two other Indian nationals sought her help, claiming that one of the men had taken their passports and some money.

The woman confronted the man, who was said to be an agent who provided visa renewal services and demanded that he returned the passports and cash of the two foreigners.

The agent allegedly insulted the PVR officer who then reacted by assaulting him and another man.

She also urged the authorities to act against one of the men, accusing him of being an unauthorised foreign worker agent.

Netizens have, however, asked the police to probe the incident and act against the PVR officer for allegedly taking the law into her own hands.
