Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad posted today two photos of Datuk Shahruddin Md Salleh in a meeting together with former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahya.
The ousted Bersatu chairman posted a short caption in the Facebook post, saying: “Welcome back.”

It is believed that the meeting took place at Albukhary Foundation headquarters.
In a separate post on Twitter, Dr Mahathir also posted a video of the meeting with the Bersatu anthem played over it.

Earlier, Shahruddin announced his resignation as the deputy works minister, becoming the first MP from the three-month-old PN government to quit the ruling alliance.
Shahruddin was said to have pledged support to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad instead.
In a statement today, the Sri Gading MP said he had made an “incorrect” move in joining the PN government, adding that he should have considered his constituents who “voted for Pakatan Harapan” in the 14th general election.

“As the first step to correct this mistake, I am resigning from my post as I was appointed by the prime minister of the PN government,” he said.
This comes as reports are claiming that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s party Bersatu is mulling to join Umno in a Supreme Council meeting tonight that will go on without chairman Dr Mahathir being invited.
Rumours are also swirling about a number of MPs negotiating a return to Dr Mahathir’s fold in the next few days.
While lauding PN’s decision to support Muhyiddin as the prime minister, Shahruddin said the coalition had remained unregistered with the Registrar of Societies.
He claimed that such a status had cast ambiguity on the decision to sack Dr Mahathir and four other MPs from Bersatu.
