Malay Dignity Congress chief executive secretary Zainal Kling waved to the media but refused to address them before leaving Bukit Aman at around 1pm.
Earlier, he was questioned by the police in regard to the fiery speech he made at the congress early this month.
Addressing the reporters later, Zainal’s lawyer Muhamad Hisham Marzuki said Zainal and Hashim Ismail had given full cooperation to the police.
Hashim is the director of the Pusat Kecemerlangan Melayu Akademi Pengajian Melayu Universiti Malaya which was the organiser of the event.
Police also recorded a statement from Hashim.
“The questioning was conducted under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
“Both of them are confident with the police investigation regarding the matter,” said Hisham.
However, he was not sure whether both of his clients would be summoned again to facilitate police investigation.
Zainal had made an opening speech during the congress which irked many people following his hardline remarks on issues related to the Federal Constitution, royalties, and special position of Malays.
He said the non-Malays were bound by a social contract with the Malays. He spoke about how non-Malays have taken advantage of the citizenship status given to them and warned them that their citizenship could be suspended if they break the agreement.
He also said that Malaysia belongs to the Malays.
Criminal Investigation Department chief Huzir Mohamed had said Zainal would be investigated based on a police report lodged by an aide to P Ramasamy, the Penang deputy chief minister.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for use of network facilities to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass others.
