Zayn Rayyan’s grandfather appoints new lawyer for remanded parents

The grandfather of murdered 6-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin has appointed a new lawyer to represent Zayn’s parents, who are currently in police remand.

Zahari Mohd Reba confirmed that a new lawyer has been appointed.

It was earlier reported that Mahmud Abdul Jumaat– the lawyer representing Zayn Rayyan’s parents– had withdrawn from the case starting today.

Mahmud, who was initially appointed by the family after the couple was detained by the police last Friday, attended the remand application proceedings at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on Saturday (June 1).

Mahmud announced said that he had to make this decision to focus on several other ongoing cases.

Magistrate Ainaa Muhammad Kamal granted a seven-day remand until this Friday (June 7).
