The federal government announced Hari Raya incentive for Felda and Felcra settlers nationwide today.
All Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) settlers will each receive a Hari Raya special incentive payment of RM450 each, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced today.
The Prime Minister said that the Government will bear the RM50 million cost of the incentive for Felda settlers.
The incentive payment amounting to RM44 million for Felcra settlers will be paid from Felcra’s profits.
“The incentive payment will be reviewed in 2019 whereby the recipients of the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) payments will no longer qualify to receive the incentive payment,” said Dr Mahathir.
In an immediate reaction, president of the National Felda Settlers Children’s Association (Anak) Mazlan Aliman said he was overjoyed upon hearing the announcement.
He said that the payment would benefit 112,635 settlers.
“The announcement shows that the Government is sensitive despite facing financial constraints. The RM450 payment for each settler is a Hari Raya gift for the Felda settlers, and will be a relief for them,” said Mazlan.
