Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today broke his silence on the rumoured link between him and current Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chairman Datuk Rameli Musa, alleged to be a PAS funder.

Anwar admits he is friends with Rameli Musa, who allegedly paid RM1.4mil to settle a lawsuit between Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

“Rameli Musa is my close friend, but he then decided to support PAS, especially party president Abdul Hadi.

“But I do not want to use this space to fight with PAS. I think that is enough, I do not deny our friendship, but many PAS leaders are also my friends,” he said when debating the motion of thanks to the Royal Address.

Anwar was responding to Awang Hashim (PAS-Pendang) who asked the PKR president to explain his relationship with Rameli.

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli had revealed that the owner of the bank account which paid the money to Rewcastle-Brown was Rameli.

Rameli has since been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the alleged payment.

PAS has continued to stand by its statement that neither the party nor its president had paid anything to Rewcastle-Brown.
