Putrajaya is aware that Malaysians are angry about the delay in bringing to justice the perpetrators in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd case, said PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
“The last time I talked to (Prime Minister) Dr Mahathir Mohamad, he told me how the people are angry that the case is taking too long.
“But we have no power because the judiciary is free. We do not want the old way, so if it is slow, never mind,” he said at a ceramah in Kantan Permai last night.
Anwar expressed amazement that some parties continue to deny the 1MDB scandal, which has gotten global attention and is being investigated by several countries.
“I regret how our friends are good in Umno and PAS. I do not understand how this situation (1MDB) can be dismissed.
“(They) do not remember, do not know, (as if) there is no evidence of a probe, even though the matter is known by the whole world, and the country has lost billions of ringgit because of 1MDB, which the government has to bear,” said the Port Dickson MP.
Former prime minister Najib Razak has been hit with a slew of charges related to the scandal, following Dr Mahathir’s move to reopen investigations into 1MDB after PH won federal power in last year’s general election. – TMI
