Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun today denied issuing a letter to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin informing the latter that he no longer commanded the majority of support among members of Parliament.

Azhar was referring to a report by a news portal titled “Perdana Menteri Terima Surat Speaker Maklum Tiada Majoriti, Mahu Bubar Parliamen” loosely translated as the Prime Minister received letter from Speaker informing the former he has lost majority support in the House, and wants to dissolve Parliament.

“I deny the news report and would like to state that I have never issued any letter to the Prime Minister as reported.

“The news is fake,” said Azhar in a statement today.

The report claimed that Azhar told the Pagoh member of Parliament that 121 MPs rejected him as the prime minister.

Meanwhile, the news portal in question, Suara.TV denied publishing such a report.

The news portal, in a statement, said they had informed the Speaker’s office that they did not publish the article which had gone viral.

“We would like to state the article which has gone viral, using Suara.TV’s logo is false and malicious,” the portal said. – NST
