The statement is purportedly from Shafie Apdal.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has never sent out a statement asking the public to stop ridiculing the former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, the Sabah Chief Minister’s office has clarified.
The ‘circular’ which has gone viral in social media, was crafted in such a way that it was thought to be issued by the Chief Minister.
In a statement, the Chief Minister’s office stated that it was a fake copy and had nothing to do with Shafie, the New Straits Times reported.
“It was not issued by him (Shafie), and he had never made any such statement as claimed.
“The Chief Minister advised netizens and Internet users against rushing to share or spread information without verifying its authenticity,” read the statement.
The statement titled ‘Tazkirah / Perutusan Dari Ketua Menteri Sabah (Warisan) Yg Baru’, asked the public particularly Muslims, to stop bashing Najib and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, especially in social media.
