Also denies he will be crossing over to join PPBM.
Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein has denied that his efforts in helping the government look for Jho Low were to avoid from being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The former defence minister said if it was true that he was involved in any corruption offence, the MACC would certainly have carried out an investigation and charged him.
“What has the MACC got against me? I was not involved in any corrupt practices. The MACC has not called me for investigation.

“I am not involved in corruption. If people say I am afraid of MACC, let the MACC itself expose the corruption cases,” he said at the Parliament lobby today.
Last week, Hishammuddin volunteered to go “all out” to trace Jho Low and bring him back to face justice, as he wants to see closure in the 1MDB case.
He stressed that the offer was made in his personal capacity, and not on Putrajaya’s request.
The offer was met with mixed responses, with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad saying that it would be welcome, and some of Hishammuddin’s fellow lawmakers from Umno questioning the move.
Hishammuddin said that any information he obtained on Low’s whereabouts would be channelled to inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
“He (Fuzi) has also previously said that he would welcome my personal efforts to assist investigations against Low,” Hishammuddin said.
He explained, however, that he has as yet not found the time to go to China to hunt down the fugitive.
“I don’t have time now, but I have already informed my friends in China about the matter.
“But I don’t know whether Low is still in China or not. If he is still in China, why have the Chinese authorities not handed him to us?
“I have been made to understand that our police has established a good connection with their counterparts there.”
Hishammuddin also reiterated that any trip to China will be made in his personal capacity, with expenses paid out of his own pocket.
“If we look into the future, there has to be a closure to the 1MDB controversy.
“If everyone agrees that Low is critical to solving the issue, I’m willing to help, personally, and I will fund it,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Hishammuddin also denied that he was among the 40 Umno MPs said to be crossing over to join PPBM.
“I have stated several times that I will not leave the party. There is an English saying that ‘action speaks louder than words’.”
