Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said he welcomes Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein’s assistance in tracking down Jho Low.

Without commenting on the former Umno vice-president’s motive, Fuzi said he would have no issue if Hishammuddin could secure the return of Low and his father.

“On our part, we have utilised our resources in tracking down Jho Low, his father and a few others, including contacting our foreign counterparts as well as Interpol.

“While there are no encouraging leads yet, we are not giving up,” he told a press conference after attending the Bukit Aman’s monthly assembly on Wednesday (Oct 24).

The former Umno vice-president said he would use his previous contacts and links with the Chinese government and friends to try and bring back Jho Low if he is in China.

On Monday, Hishammuddin said he was planning a visit to China in his own personal capacity soon and was ready to approach his contacts there to broach the topic of sending Low back to Malaysia.

“I think all Malaysians want to know the truth. So we need to bring him back to face justice.

“It has nothing to do with whether you are from the opposition or the government. This is about justice,” he said at the Parliament lobby on Monday (Oct 22).

Low was charged in absentia with money laundering here and remains wanted for investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

He is variously believed to be in China and Taiwan, but his precise location remains unknown.

Hishammuddin said the 1MDB case would not be solved unless Low is brought back to face the law.

Council of Eminent Persons chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin also claimed that “moles” within the Malaysian government was among the reasons why it was difficult for Malaysia to pin down and arrest Low.
