Friendly advice to come home and get the best lawyer.
Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong Khan Lee hopes that Malaysia’s most wanted businessman Jho Low would return home to assist in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) probe.
Ong said it is hard for Low to escape from the authorities as 1MDB is a high-profile case, not only in Malaysia but internationally.
“The Interpol has been alerted on the case. If Low is put under the no-fly list it is even harder for him to escape from the probe. So it is better if he could come back to assist in the investigation and see what is the outcome,” said the PKR state rep on Saturday (June 9).
Ong said Low was his childhood friend, and they grew up together, but he has not seen Low since 2013.
“He was my neighbour living in Pulau Tikus area. My parents also know his parents personally and we used to play and hang out together in the older days.
“As a friend and a lawyer, I would advise him to come back.
“I would also advise him to get the best lawyer. Just like how Anwar (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) told Najib (former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak),” he added.
Ong also urged the public not to jump to conclusions and not to convict Low without prosecution.
“Let him have a say and let the rule of law decide on his fate,” he added.
Low has been identified as the mastermind behind 1MDB, which is the subject of investigations by Malaysian as well as international authorities for alleged corruption and money laundering.
