The Public Accounts Committee must consider offering a special safe passage for fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho @ Jho Low to testify in a fresh investigation into the 1Malaysian Development Bhd scandal, said Lim Kit Siang.
He said it is timely for the PAC to get started again to reveal “the whole ugly tale of the scandal”.
“The PAC should also consider whether there should be special safe passage for one of the two 1MDB masterminds, Jho Low to come to Malaysia to testify,” he said in a statement today.
The Iskandar Puteri MP said in the past, Parliament had been part of the farce and charade that the 1MDB scandal was “fake news”.
“It is time that Parliament redeems its honour, dignity and integrity by getting to the bottom of the 1MDB scandal.

“The PAC should present a report of its investigation into the 1MDB financial scandal and tell the whole ugly tale of the 1MDB scandal from its very genesis.”
The PAC should also summon all personalities related to the 1MDB scandal to testify, whether ministers or public officials who were its chief exponents or defenders before 2018 like former prime minister Najib Razak, minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, director-general of Jasa Mohd Puad Zarkashi and former attorney-general Mohamad Apandi Ali, he said.
1MDB “victims” such as the then deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, former attorney-general Abdul Ghani Patail, former minister Shafie Apdal and a gallery of MACC and police officers should also be called in, he said.
In addition, PAC should invite representatives of law enforcement agencies of foreign governments as well as media representatives, both local and international, to testify as to their investigations into the 1MDB scandal.
The last two PAC investigations into 1MDB – in 2010 and 2015 when Najib was the prime minister – had been described during Najib’s criminal trial as nothing short of a farce.
Prosecution witness, former 1MDB chief executive officer Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi told the court that Najib, then PAC chairman Hassan Ariffin, Abdul Rahman and Low had conspired to plot the outcome of the hearings. – TMI
