The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will record a statement from the stepson of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Reportedly, 48-year-old Riza Aziz will be going to the Commission’s headquarters at 2pm on Tuesday (July 3).

“Riza has been notified and has been asked to be present tomorrow so that we can take a statement from him,” the source told The Star on Monday (July 2).

Riza is a film producer and the co-founder of Hollywood film production company Red Granite Pictures which has been linked to the 1MDB scandal

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) had claimed that US$64 million in allegedly misappropriated 1MDB funds had been wired to Red Granite and used to finance the production of several films, including Martin Scorsese’s 2013 ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio.

Riza has denied the claim.

However, Red Granite in March this year agreed to pay US$60 million (RM234 million) to the US government to resolve allegations that it profited from corrupt money involving 1MDB, according to a report in the Variety.

Riza is one of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s two children from a previous marriage.

He is also an associate of fugitive Jho Low, who was named the prime suspect of the 1MDB scandal.
