There was no evidence of criminal offences against Court of Appeals Judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In Dewan Negara today, Anwar said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had completed its probe, over allegations of unexplained money in his accounts.
“The MACC had investigated thoroughly and found that there was no criminal offence committed and this has been acknowledged by the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“It is the same on the issue of conflict of interest, the matter had been decided by the Federal Court,” he said, responding to a supplementary question by Senator Datuk Kesavadas A Achyuthan Nair.
Kesavadas had asked the status of the investigation into Nazlan, who was the trial judge who convicted former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on charges of misappropriation of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
Najib had argued that Nazlan should not have sat over his SRC trial due to his previous position in Maybank Investment Bhd, as this pointed to conflict of interest.
He had also accused Nazlan of failing to disclose his past positions and previous roles in Maybank before he became a judge.
Anwar said the Federal Court had ruled on the alleged conflict of interest in the case, and added that the defendant had already retracted claims against Nazlan on Aug 9, 2022. – NST
