Penang PKR Youth has lodged a police report against controversial blogger “Raggie Jessy” after a video of him making allegations against several Pakatan Harapan leaders went viral on social media.
Penang PKR Youth information chief Fahmi Zainol said the two-minute, 41-second video on WhatsApp and on the Nothing To Hide Media Facebook page operated by Raggie, whose real name is Ragvinder Singh Jess, contained several sensitive and allegedly defamatory remarks.
“(He) had alleged that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will seize the position of prime minister by May, and accused Anwar of conspiring with Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and DAP leaders for their own political gain.
“The host also made a statement that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had plans to jail Anwar again.
“In the video, Anwar was also accused of being responsible for the financial crisis in 1997.
“As a PKR Youth member, I believe the video clip contains seditious and defamatory elements against leaders in the government, which may trigger disharmony and tarnish Anwar’s reputation as Port Dickson MP and as Prime Minister-in-waiting,” added Fahmi.
The party’s lawyer S Raveetharan, who was also present, urged the police to initiate investigations under Section 500 of the Penal Code which relates to defamation, Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 4 of the Defamation Act 1948, as well as for treason. – The Star
