Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli spent nine hours at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Monday (May 4) over a probe linked to Putrajaya’s RM1.1 billion deal with UK-based ARM Holdings.
The Pandan MP arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.45am to give a statement regarding alleged abuse of power and misappropriation tied to the investment, which involves a strategic collaboration agreement between the Economy Ministry and ARM Limited.
A group of supporters gathered outside the compound, with a small police presence on hand. Subang MP Wong Chen, a known ally of Rafizi, was also present.
Before entering, Rafizi said he had nothing to hide and was prepared for any legal outcome.
“I will go in for my statement without my lawyers because I have nothing to hide.
“I am confident there won’t be any need to refer to my lawyer either, and if the decision by MACC is to charge, then we will proceed to the defence in court.
“If it ends in court, then I am confident we have a strong case,” he said.
He later left the MACC headquarters at 6.50pm after nine hours of questioning and is expected to return at 10am the following day.
“I gave my full cooperation, but it was a lengthy process,” he was quoted as saying.
