The police have received a report on a posting by the ‘Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page’ on Facebook, which has allegedly insulted Sultan of Selangor Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mazlan Mansor said the report was lodged at Section 6 Police Station, Shah Alam, at 11.15am yesterday.

“A police report was lodged by an aide to the sultan at his instruction, and police have accepted it.

“The report referred to a statement made by the account holder insulting the sultan in Chinese,” he told reporters today.

The post, purportedly inciting the Chinese community to protest against the sultan, went viral on Sunday, after his instruction that road signs in Shah Alam currently in Chinese be replaced by road signs in Bahasa Malaysia.

Malaysiakini learned that police are investigating the case under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.

Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming has denied the Facebook page is linked to him and criticised former premier Najib Abdul Razak for pointing the finger at him and DAP.

“The posting is from a page masquerading itself as ‘Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page’ but it is not from me or DAP.

“A check online found that the posting Najib referred to was from a page titled ‘Jiu Shi Huang Ya’ which has nothing to do with me or DAP. This proves Najib lied again,” he added.

Najib had asked the government to act against the Teluk Intan MP and accused him of inciting the Chinese to hate the Selangor ruler.

The posting had said that since it was Sultan Sharafuddin who decreed the removal of the road signs, vexed Chinese should vent their frustration at him.
