The 62-year-old man who reportedly committed suicide at the Serdang Hospital last night was not a Covid-19 patient, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah clarified today.

He said the man underwent a Covid-19 check-up and his test result was negative.
“There is a record of a suicide case last night, but the person was not a Covid-19 patient.
“We did the test…the Covid-19 test done on him turned out to be negative,” he told a press conference today.
According to Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, the suicide occurred at 7.40pm in a bathroom in ward 7D of the hospital.
It is learnt that the body was discovered by a nurse, who immediately alerted the hospital’s security department.
The 62-year-old was admitted to the hospital for self-isolation at 2.30pm on March 26.
The police have now instructed for a post-mortem and recorded statements from all hospital staff who dealt with the patient and his family members.
