The Conference of Rulers today decided that Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Shah will continue his duties as the acting Agong, following the resignation of Sultan Muhammad V.

The New Straits Times reports that the decision was reached after a meeting attended by six of the nine rulers who form the Conference of Rulers.

The sultans of Selangor, Pahang and Kelantan were not present at today’s meeting, the daily said.

The meeting, which started at 10.10am, is believed to have been held to choose a date for the Conference of Rulers to convene again to elect the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
