Police detained another two individuals in connection with investigations over the distribution of sex videos allegedly implicating a federal minister, bringing the total number of arrests to 11.

Without disclosing details of the arrests, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said the two were detained in Shah Alam yesterday.

“I can confirm that we have made two more arrests yesterday in Shah Alam.

“We will also be extending the remand on some of the individuals previously arrested in connection with the case.

“Investigations are ongoing and we are still in the midst of recording statements and taking action, so there is always the possibility that more arrests will be made,” he told reporters.

He said police were actively investigating the case on two aspects namely its authenticity and the perpetrators as well as person who had produced and distributed the videos.

Hamid added that the case is a huge waste of police resource.

“This whole thing is political. I have been urged from day one to verify the authenticity of the video.

“Now after doing so, I am being accused of making political statements,” he said, adding political parties that wanted to fight among themselves should not drag in others.

He said they should have their storm in the cup and leave it at that.

“Don’t bring your fights to the public and get everyone else involved and make the police waste their time and resources to investigate such petty matters.”

The remand period for Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and Farhash Wafa Salvador, as well as another individual, have been extended for another three days. The remand period will start tomorrow and end on July 23.
