Ustaz Zubir has been arrested while a sixth remand order has been issued on Boy Iman in relation to a property scam.
Police have detained Zubir Yahya, who is also known as Ustaz Zubir, to facilitate investigations into a RM6.2 million low-cost housing scam.
The suspect, aged 50, was nabbed at a restaurant in Setapak at 11am on Friday morning and handed over to the Wangsa Maju District Commercial Crime Investigation Division for investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
It was reported that the ‘ustaz’ had used religion to persuade victims to invest in an affordable housing scheme run by Juta Kelulut Global Resources and DBI Properties, in Nilai.
Zubir is the fifth individual to be arrested in connection with the scam.
His arrest came on the same day that the Kangar magistrate’s court granted police a two-day remand order against DBI Properties managing director and actor Datuk Nuruliman A Rahman, better known as Boy Iman. and three directors of Kelulut Global Ventures, including a woman.
This is the sixth remand order on Boy Iman and the trio following similar probes. They were previously detained in Ampang, Shah Alam, Muar, Sungai Petani and Jitra.
Police have so far received 210 reports from victims nationwide who had been told that they could purchase a 1,650-sq-ft bungalow for a mere RM60,000.
