Warisan Plus assemblymen have been offered RM32 million to defect to former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman’s camp, Gum Gum rep Arunarsin Taib has alleged.
The Borneo Today news portal quoted him saying that Arunarsin had had been asked to jump ship “at least 10 times”.
The former state youth and sports assistant minister said he was told last month by “political agents” that those who cross over, and support Musa would receive RM27 million, plus an additional RM5 million if they become state ministers or assistant ministers.
“This brings the total to RM32 million to betray the people’s mandate,” he was quoted as saying.
The Sabah election was called on July 30 after an attempt by Musa and assemblymen aligned to the federal government to overthrow Chief Minister and Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Arunarsin said the agents who approached him tried to convince him by saying that state government was about to fall.
“I told them, it’s a waste giving such amounts of money to the assemblymen.
“While it would make them rich, that money can be better spent on people who need it more.”
Arunarnsin said that he had declined their offer because he was loyal to Shafie.
He also alleged he was constantly harassed by the agents to take the offer.
“They will track me down if their calls were not answered or WhatsApp messages not replied.
“Not only that, my family members were also contacted besides having people watching my house,” he said. – TMI
