A second brother of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal was arrested by MACC and remanded.
Datuk Yusof Apdal, the Lahad Datu state assemblyperson, was arrested on late Tuesday after presenting himself at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Kota Kinabalu.
Unlike his elder brother, Yusof had remained in Umno, and is the Silam division chief.
He was taken to the Kuta Kinabalu court complex at 10.30am this morning and remanded for four days as part of investigations into the alleged embezzlement of RM1.5 billion of rural development funds.
A large group of supporters, some wearing t-shirts with Yusof’s picture, gathered outside the court compound.
Family members, including his brother Zulkifli, managed to hug him before he was taken into the courtroom.
Yusof was represented by lawyer Edward Paul.
Another of Shafie’s younger brother, Hamid, was arrested on Oct 10 and remains under custody with his businessman son-in-law Marzun Hussein Awal Khan who was detained last Sunday.

The magistrate granted RM50,000 bail for Azis and Ariffin, while Jamawi was allowed bail at RM20,000.
The men later posed for pictures with Parti Warisan Sabah members for the media.
