Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied posting a malicious message on a number of social-media platforms, including the official Facebook page of Muhyiddin Yassin, mocking the prime minister.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Zahid blamed “certain parties with malicious intent” for impersonating him and mocking Muhyiddin.

He said they used a Facebook account bearing his name and with his profile picture to “deliberately and maliciously” leave the rude comments in the prime minister’s FB account yesterday.

Zahid also accused the culprits of editing his comments by making it seem as if he had written the rude comments against Muhyiddin.

He included a snapshot of the offensive post ridiculing Muhyiddin as the “father of addresses” insinuating that the latter’s speeches are funded by Jkom, the new name for the revived Special Affairs Department (Jasa), a propaganda unit for the Barisan Nasional government.

The Pakatan Harapan government when it came to power in 2018 disbanded Jasa.

Urging the impersonators to stop what they are doing, Zahid said “actions like these are far from my life practices and principles”.
