Three Rela members who were monitoring traffic at an event in Ampang were allegedly beaten up over a Datuk Seri’s car that was blocking a road.
In an incident that occurred at a temple in Ampang where a celebration was held yesterday morning, three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members were helping to monitor traffic in the area.
The trio approached a man regarding his car which was blocking a road near the temple.
The man, who identified himself as a “Datuk Seri”, allegedly beat up Rela members Ranbo Lee, 27, Jackie Leong, 21, and Melvin Cheong, 19, for not showing him respect.
Lee suffered bruises and swelling to his left eye in the attack, Leong was kicked in his body while Cheong was hit on the back of his head.
According to MCA Public Service and Complaints Department chairman Datuk Seri Michael Chong, who is Rela’s honorary deputy commissioner, the incident was caught on CCTV and a police report has been lodged.
“How can anyone do this, more so to people on duty? This is an insult to our uniform,” Chong said at a press conference.
Ampang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan confirmed that a report was made.
So far no arrests have been made.
