HK actor Ng Man Tat dies of liver cancer

Hong Kong screen actor Ng Man Tat died at the Union Hospital in Hong Kong today.


Hong Kong’s The Standard quoted one of his close friends, Tenky Tin Kai-man as saying that the actor died peacefully in his sleep.

Ng had been suffering from liver cancer.

He had just turned 70 on Jan 2.

According to Tin, Ng’s family members, including his wife and children, were with him when he died.

Messages of condolences on the actor’s passing have been flooding social media with “Ng Man Tat” trending in the Kuala Lumpur Twitter trendlist.

Ng was most famously known for the “mo lei tau” movies in which he appeared next to Stephen Chow.

The “mo lei tau” genre, which means random, is slapstick comedy.

With comedy being his forté, many reminisced how Ng had coloured their lives with his various roles.

Among the movies he had starred in were God of Gamblers, The Mad Monk, The Kung Fu Scholar, Hail the Judge and Heroes Among Heroes, among others. – NST
