Adorable nine-year-old Celine did it again – blowing away the America’s Got Talent judges with her incredible Michael Bolton performance and even gets a golden buzzer from a stunned Laverne Cox.
Celine Tam, from Hong Kong, first wowed the audience in June when she hit every high note in Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’.
Judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and Mel B clearly remembered Celine when she stepped onstage for the third round of judge cuts.
When she first appeared on the show, she had made quite an impact on the judges when she revealed her parents are such big fans of the Canadian singer that they named her Celine while her little sister is called Dionne.
She also told judges at that time she enjoys listening to Dion’s tunes and wants to have a career like hers.
On Tuesday night, however, Celine departed from Dion’s repertoire and opted to sing Bolton’s 1989 hit ‘How Am I Supposed to Live Without You’ – a choice that won guest judge Laverne Cox’s heart.
Even Cowell, known for being one of the harshest judges on television, watched with a look of slight disbelief as Celine delivered her powerful performance, apparently effortlessly.
After her amazing rendition of the ballad, the audience gave her a standing ovation before Cox started raving about Celine’s talents.
A worthy successor to Celine Dion is in the making.
“I just want to eat you up and, like, take you home. You were so adorable and so cute and your voice is amazing!” Cox gushed. “I’m really blown away. You are so talented. Unbelievable.”
The actress was so convinced that Celine deserved to remain in the competition that she ended up pressing the golden buzzer, sending the young singer straight to the live shows.
Celine was overwhelmed by the honour, which is the highest distinction a contestant can receive at this stage of the competition. She watched with her mouth wide open in surprise as golden confetti rained down onto the stage.
