Up to 22 people in Cyberjaya and Klang tested positive for Influenza A on Thursday, said the Selangor Health Department (JKNS).
In Cyberjaya, 20 students and a teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan Cyberjaya were diagnosed with the viral infection after presenting with symptoms of fever, cough and flu.
In a separate case, two siblings in Klang also tested positive for the virus, Bernama reported.
“(Most of) the students and the teacher (in Cyberjaya) received treatment as outpatients and were allowed to return home. However, one schoolboy was admitted to a private hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
“(Meanwhile) one of the siblings in Klang was hospitalised, but is in stable condition, while the other received treatment as an outpatient and was allowed to return home,” Selangor Health Director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said in a statement, last night.
He added that based on an initial investigation, health authorities believe that the two cases are not linked.
Dr Sha’ari said no school has been closed due to the Influenza A outbreak in Selangor, as the situation here is currently under control. – NST
