PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is in a better condition after being admitted to Universiti Malaya Medical Center on Saturday (June 23) after suffering severe pain due to a prolapsed disc.
Anwar was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance from his home in Bukit Segambut after complaining of shoulder and back pain.
“He complained of pain on the shoulder and back after returning from Turkey today. However, his condition is stable,” PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said in a statement yesterday.
Anwar underwent surgery on his right shoulder at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) in November last year.
His wife Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said she had visited him early Sunday (June 24) morning.
“He is getting better and he will be getting further treatment by the doctors,” said Dr Wan Azizah when met at the Selangor state government’s open house.
On another matter, Dr Wan Azizah said she had was unaware of the arrest of activist lawyer Siti Kasim on Saturday night.
Dr Wan Azizah also said she left it to the police.
Doctors have advised Anwar against having visitors for now.
